COURSES

FREE Optimised control strategy courses

Learn how to reduce power consumption and increase a building’s energy efficiency rating.

The principle behind the BMS Net Zero program is to use BMS maintenance hours to optimise and save energy in commercial buildings.

BMS service technicians are already attending site to perform Periodic Preventative Maintenance. Let’s use those service hours to reprogram the BMS field controllers with modern, optimised, control strategies.

As part of the BMS Net Zero program, We are making a selection of our training courses free to anyone that wants to learn how to save energy in buildings by modifying (optimising) the control strategies in the field controllers.

We do not need to replace the controllers, if the BMS is less than 10 years old it is likely that we just need to reprogram the code in the controllers.

Please watch the three YouTube videos below before jumping into the free courses.

BMS Net Zero program

Part 1: BMS Net Zero - Introduction

The journey starts with sharing the free Net Zero program with as many people as possible. Please share this web page and spread the word before moving on to the exciting stuff. Without the numbers, this will all be a waste of time. Sure, we will save energy in some buildings, but the program is not called - let’s save energy in some buildings. We are trying to contribute to a worldwide change.

Part 2: BMS Net Zero - Where to Start?

Which systems to optimise first, and why.

  • Introduces the concept of what actually saves energy?

  • Free access to the Learning Management System.

    • Advanced optimal start course released.

    • Optimised VAV/FCU course released.

  • Your call to action

Part 3: BMS Net Zero - Measurement and Verification

If a BMS engineer downloads a smarter control strategy, but, that saving can not be proven to the building owner, then there is no saving!

  • You must know exactly how you are going to test your optimisation efforts and prove the reduced power consumption before you start.

  • This could be the hardest part of an optimisation program and it will be the difference between success or failure.

FREE Control Strategy Optimisation courses

These are usually paid for courses, get through them while they still are free. Why are they free? I am giving up a revenue stream for the good of our industry. Please show me some respect and put in the same effort that I put in to create them. Have fun, and I hope you learn something, as we both do our bit to save energy in commercial buildings.

Control strategy optimisation is the modification of a control system so that it operates differently, reducing power consumption and increasing a buildings energy efficiency rating.

The population will always increase, the need for commercial buildings will always increase, and the cost and need for power will always increase.

Building Automation professionals that can demonstrate the ability to reduce power consumption in buildings with just software changes are going to be the hero’s of the future!

 COURSE LEADER

Bryce Anderson

Bryce is an independent Building Automation Consultant with over 24 years of experience. The first 15 years working for BMS companies in South Africa, London, and Australia, before transitioning into BMS consulting in 2014.

Bryce is typically engaged by building owners, facility managers, builders, mechanical consultants, and Independent Commissioning agents (ICA) as a BMS specialist consultant. This exposure to the wider industry allows Bryce to provide customised training courses that do not just teach the technical side of BMS systems but also address current real-life issues and constraints in the Building Management System industry.
